STEP #1: LECTIO / READPsalm 121:1BC-2, 3-4, 5-6, 7-8 R. (see 2) Our help is from the Lord, who made heaven and earth. I lift up my eyes toward the mountains; whence shall help come to me? My help is from the LORD, who made heaven and earth. R. Our help is from the Lord, who made heaven and earth. May he not suffer your foot to slip; may he slumber not who guards you: Indeed he neither slumbers nor sleeps, the guardian of Israel. R. Our help is from the Lord, who made heaven and earth. The LORD is your guardian; the LORD is your shade; he is beside you at your right hand. The sun shall not harm you by day, nor the moon by night. R. Our help is from the Lord, who made heaven and earth. The LORD will guard you from all evil; he will guard your life. The LORD will guard your coming and your going, both now and forever. R. Our help is from the Lord, who made heaven and earth. STEP #2: MEDITATIO / MEDITATEI am terrible about asking for help. My arms can be filled with boxes and I will tell someone not to open the door for me because I don't want to bother them. But there are times when we all need help. No one can do it alone. No one can carry their burdens by themselves as hard as we try. And I am not speaking about just carrying boxes, I am referring to times where sometimes life just gets overwhelming. There was a time a few years ago where I had to learn the lesson that God is there for me no matter what. I moved away from my friends, my family, everything I knew and prepared to study abroad in a country that didn’t really speak English. Leaving everything behind was so much harder than I ever imagined. But what I didn’t leave behind is my faith. I carried my faith with me through those six months (and beyond). God was with me, and He helped me. He helped me when I felt like I did not have friends, by letting me stumble across His presence in Adoration. He helped me through getting lost in a strange city by letting me find the most beautiful chapel. But each time God showed me He was with me, it was after I asked for help. I needed God, and I needed to call out to Him. The psalm today tells us the whenever we call for help, God is there. Our God, who made heaven and earth is with us always. He is watching over us, protecting us. He is with us not just for a short time but for forever. All we have to do is call on Him. STEP #3: ORATIO / PRAY Our help is from the Lord, who made heaven and earth. Where do I need God's help in my life? How can I ask for God's help? Where do I see God working in my life? STEP #4: CONTEMPLATIO / CONTEMPLATE"Lord, I need you." "Jesus help me." "Lord be with me." FOR THE REST OF YOUR DAY...What is one thing you need God's help with today? Ask Him for help and pay special attention to how God answers your prayers. SMARTPHONE LOCK SCREEN Today's prayer was prepared by Lisa Kendzior.
