Step #1: Lectio / ReadClick the link below or open your Bible to the passage and read through the reading at least once, paying attention to what is happening in the text. Step #2: Meditatio / MeditateUse the following meditation to help you reflect more deeply on the Scripture (you may want to read the passage again). God chooses the most broken people to do the most amazing things. It is pretty incredible to be honest. And it honestly takes all the pressure off. God calls us to follow Him and to participate in His Kingdom. All we have to do is say yes and show up! We do not have to do it perfectly. We do not have to have it all figured out. We just have to simply say "here I am, Lord," and do our best to follow. In a world obsessed with "perfection," it is so hard for many of us to truly understand this concept. To God, perfect is not flawless, it is you being completely you. We don't have to be holy first, because it is God who will make us holy when we simply show up. It is like going to the doctor, you don't wait until you are feeling better to be seen; you go when you are feeling the worst. Today, let us follow Isaiah's simple example and say "here I am, Lord." Let our humble yes be the thing that makes us holy. Step #3: Oratio / PrayThese questions are to be used to talk to God; have a conversation with the Lord about these questions and what is going on in your heart as you pray today. What are some ways you can say yes to God today? Are you present to the Lord in this very moment, or obsessed with the past or the future? What is holding you back from a bigger yes to the Lord right now? Step #4: Contemplatio / ContemplateIn this step, you listen. Stop talking, let God speak to your heart. You may repeat one of these short phrases to focus your mind on the Lord. "Come Holy Spirit." "Jesus." "Here I am, Lord." Step #5: Actio / ActIn light of today's reading and your time spent in prayer with the Lord, what concrete action or actions will you take to let this encounter with the Lord bear fruit in you today? Be present to the Lord today. Simply say yes and show up, and let Him do the rest.
